Jeremy SteadNat Dip Q.S, Advanced Nat. Carp.
Managing Director / Quantity Surveyor

Jeremy began his career as a builder and advanced his career by gaining his National Diploma in Quantity Surveying.   He has had experience in contracting and Project Management while working for professional Q.S firms in Wellington, before returning to Hawkes Bay to work for a local construction company and then establish Stead Construction Limited

Jeremy manages the construction staff and oversees the Project Management Team.   However, it is not uncommon to find Jeremy measuring and rating up tenders in the office and then being seen out on site placing concrete,  operating an excavator digging  out footings, in the joinery shop machining up timber  or driving a truck delivering materials.  He is fully committed to all facets of the entire company and it is this passion for the construction industry that has enabled him to grow the business.  Jeremy prides himself on his ability to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism for the success of the company.


Vanessa Treseder
General Manager

Vanessa joined Stead Construction in its infancy years after managing much larger companies outside of the construction industry.

Over a very short duration Vanessa gained experience in all management facets and processes within the construction industry. In 2008 Vanessa was appointed as General Manager of Stead Construction and now oversees all financial management of the company.

Vanessa's overwhelming drive for personal and company success has given her recognition as a leading female within a male dominated construction industry.

Vanessa is also well known for keeping all if the management team within Stead Construction alert and on their feet, together with being readily available to openly discuss any issues that may arise.


Ken Hemara - N.Z. Cert in Quantity Surveying
Project Manager / Quantity Surveyor

Ken joined Stead Construction in early 2008 and has over 25 years experience in Quantity Surveying and Project Management. Ken's strong interpersonal skills promote clear communication with clients, consultants and subcontractors. He has a reputation for delivering projects on time and on budget, and has worked on numerous projects with contract values in excess of $5 million. His knowledge and skills have made him an integral part of Stead Construction's success.


Brett Phillips - Adv Dip Arch Draft
Project Manager

Brett brings with him over 12 years experience in Architectual Draughting and Project Management. Brett recently completed the new CablePrice Workshop & Administration Facility in Hastings where he was not only involved in the design and documentation but also the on site project management of the facility. Being closely involved in these key aspects of construction saw the project meet a demanding deadline and deliver a first class facility to the client.


Kelly Allan
Project Manager

Kelly's entry into the building and construction industry came while he was with the NZ Army. As you can imagine, this start has given him some extremely valuable skills when it comes to leading projects and teams. Kelly knows how to get the job done, on time every time. His background includes apartment buildings, commercial buildings, building remediation and most recently seismic strengthening. Leading by example and having high expectations is Kelly's approach, tempered with a sense of humour which allows him to get the very best from his team.


Tom Ashe
Construction Manager

Tom joined Stead Construction in it's infancy as a carpenter and quickly progressed to Site Foreman.  

10 Years later, with many successful projects under his belt, Tom is the Construction Manager. Responsible for the day to day running of our construction staff while also managing numerous local projects.


Nick Khedekar
Assistant Project Manager / Civil Engineer

Having completed his Bachelor or Engineering and worked as a Civil Engineer in India, Nick moved to New Zealand to gain his Master Degree in Civil Engineering at Auckland University.

Although normally based on one project, Nick's responsibilities is to oversee civil works within our construction projects, this includes, testing, soil verification, site measuring, compaction testing, data collection and reporting to ensure that Civil facets whether executed by Stead Construction or our sub-contractor comply with to relevant standards.


Kay Howes
Financial Executive

Kay is an integral part of the company, heading up our Accounts Department. She is responsible for the day to day running of the office and also being the first point of contact for our clients and subcontractors.

Having an extensive background in accounting her organizational skills are key to working in a busy construction industry.


Phil Stead
Plant Manager

Phil has many years of experience in the building industry. He ensures the smooth running of the day to day operations of Stead Construction managing both plant and inwards goods for the company's sites.
